Kar-Wei Lam

Kar-Wei’s professional journey has taken twists and turns, from building financial models and marketing consumer products at Procter & Gamble, to institutional money management, trading millions of dollars of stocks at blue chip financial institutions, to being an entrepreneur. She now owns and operates an independent wealth advisory practice managing the financial affairs for families, professionals and corporations, and is a Partner at Creative Planning Financial Group. In 2010, Kar-Wei embarked upon a journey of reinvention and began networking on Bay Street. After hundreds of face-to-face networking meetings, Kar-Wei developed an extensive contact list and a robust networking strategy and framework. An avid connector of people, she ran a long-standing Bay Street executive networking group that met bi-weekly to share ideas, collaborate and make new connections. Kar-Wei also moderates workshops on networking and career transition for new and seasoned professionals. As part of her commitment to the community, Kar-Wei was a volunteer member of the Chartered Financial Analyst Society Toronto’s (CFAST) Mentorship Committee for a decade. In 2022 she was elected to the CFAST Board of Directors and is the Chair of Programming.

Vasie Papadopoulos

Vasie has over 15 years of experience working both in the public and private sectors. She spent several years working in transit – first as a consultant, then an employee of GO Transit - Metrolinx and then at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario. Prior to that, she worked as a political aide. She recently returned to Canada from a global assignment with Philip Morris International in Lausanne, Switzerland as a Global Intelligence and Planning Manager. She is now the Vice-President of Corporate Communications with Argyle under Believeco Partners. She has over 20 years of volunteer experience supporting women’s rights and affordable housing. She first began in 2002 when she joined Habitat for Humanity International as a volunteer and then as a team leader. From 2015-2019, she was a board member for Hamilton’s Culture for Kids in the Arts, an organization providing high quality arts experiences to kids by removing financial barriers, and became its Board Chair in 2016. In 2016, she was named to the board of Habitat for Humanity Hamilton and served on the board until 2019. In 2015, she founded a volunteer organization called OurWrite. OurWrite strives to allow ‘Every female to be their own superhero’ through building, maintaining and supporting female-centric schools and community centres. Since 2015, OurWrite has helped build and raise funds for 3 educational facilities in Mongolia, Oaxaca, Mexico and Kenya. OurWrite’s goal is to build 5 schools/community centres in 10 years, while also building awareness for the right to literacy amongst women and girls. She is the co-host of a podcast entitled The Future Of...that launched in 2019 and in 2020 launched her own shoe line with 12 shoe designs. She is also an accomplished travel photographer. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Ottawa, she has a Masters degree in Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh and completed her executive MBA from the Ivey School of Business in 2018. In 2018, she was nominated for a YWCA Woman of the Year Award and in 2020 was nominated for a Diversity and Inclusion Award with the CCDI. In 2020, she was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women through the Women’s Executive Network.
